How to Change cPanel Account Reseller or Ownership in WHM

In this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to change the reseller/owner of a cPanel account in WHM, with clear instructions.

If you're a hosting provider or server admin using WHM (Web Host Manager), you may need to transfer ownership of a cPanel account from one reseller to another. This task is common when reorganizing accounts or migrating customers.

What You'll Learn

Change Ownership of a Single cPanel Account

Step 1: Log in to WHM

  • Go to your WHM login page and enter your root or reseller credentials.

Step 2: Open “Modify an Account”

  • In the WHM dashboard, use the search bar (top-left) and type Modify an Account.Click on it.

Step 3: Select the cPanel Account

  • From the list, find the cPanel account you want to transfer and click the Modify button next to it.

Step 4: Change the Account Owner

  • Scroll down to the Account Owner section. From the drop-down menu, choose the new reseller or owner you want to assign to the account.

Step 5: Save the Changes

  • Scroll to the bottom and click Save to apply the changes.

Step 1: Access “Change Ownership of Multiple Accounts

  • In the WHM search bar, type Change Ownership of Multiple Accounts, then click the option when it appears.

Step 2: Choose the Current Reseller

  • You’ll see a list of resellers. Select the reseller whose accounts you want to manage and click Submit.

Step 3: Select the Accounts to Transfer

  • You’ll now see all cPanel accounts under that reseller. Tick the boxes next to the accounts you want to change.

Step 4: Assign the New Owner

  • Scroll to the bottom of the list. Choose the new owner or reseller from the drop-down menu, then click Change Owner of Selected Accounts.

Step 5: Save the Changes

  • Scroll to the bottom and click Save to apply the changes.
